Searching for fun with a micro sport bike.

via Daily Prompt: Micro

Its been a few years since those micro sport bikes popped onto the scene.   Part novelty and part serious bike .  ALL FUN.

The 125 cc bike segment  continues in 2018 to be a very popular one, but why?   Real riders need a beefy 700 pound 1300cc monster capable of cruising from 0 to 100 in 4 seconds.   All while blaring the throwback sounds of Iron Maiden.   (insert epic guitar riff)

Companies like Honda and Kawasaki both produce these micro machines which appear to be 1 and 1 thing only.    FUN!

The bikes are simple to ride , easy to control, look like a larger naked street bike, and cost very little.   A new Honda Grom could be yours for less than $3500!  A Kawasaki Z125 will run you even less.   Just about $3000.

These machines are not only cheap, but can hit speeds of over 50 mph .  They will also suck up fuel at a rate that would make a Tesla owner happy.  134 MPG listed on Honda’s spec sheet.

If the goal of riding a motorcycle is to have fun, get from point A to point B, and to get some looks/attention, then these micro sport bikes will make you just as happy as the massive GSX-S 1000 .   You might not hit 100 mph in the blink of an eye, but to be honest, most young sport riders are not taking their bikes to a track or even taking them on multi state adventures.  They are just out running around within their zip code.  Stop light to stop light fun with friends.

There is one final factor for the micro fun movement.  These bikes get and keep more people out riding.  That’s a big plus.  There will be a time when these riders seek out a second or third bike that might be 1000 cc or even 1300 cc.   Having all that experience on a bike they can control will only serve them in a positive way.

I say ride on micro warrior .  Ride on.
