If you’re riding in Kansas this summer, stay off this road.

The weather just screams for it.  Open roads and freedom are everywhere.  Unfortunately, so are accidents.   Earlier this year, we reported on the deaths by state in the BIG 12 STATES.

Its motorcycle season pretty much everywhere.   Before you head out, be aware that your risks goes up based on the state you’re in and on the road you travel. Kansas, THE SUNFLOWER STATE, has many scenic views to offer.   Dont skip the FLINT HILLS!.  Here is a link to some of the best rides in Kansas>

Kansas

According to GEOTAB, If you are traveling on I-70, you are playing with the following odds:

  • .5 fatal crash rate

This isn’t very high according to their list.   Just because the numbers are low doesn’t mean that you’re free to throw caution to the wind.  I-70 isn’t a highlight of the state anyway.  Aside from the fact that it includes one of the very first sections of interstate highway dating back to the 50’s, its like an old episode of MASH.  Its nice, but just overplayed.   If you’re looking for a cross state trip, check out

  • Highway 24
  • Highway 50

The joy in getting out is all about seeing the countryside and the small towns. The things that make America great.   One of the best loops in Kansas is this one from Olathe to Abiline.

The open plains, the occasional deer, and maybe even a rogue pheasant will be sure to have you appreciating life and remembering why you chose to jump on that motorcycle in the first place.     There may not be catchy names like “Tail of the Dragon” , but that doesn’t mean it a state you’ll regret spending time in.

You can find yourself on any ride.   The first thing you have to do however is GET OUT.   Jump on , turn the key , and go. Just don’t be afraid to get off I-70.
Ride Safe.
