October is ADHD/GIXXERBRO Awareness Month.

October is ADHD Awareness month.    Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a condition impact young and old alike.    Given that Suzuki recently released an updated GSX and KATANA at INTERMOT, why not highlight some of the common traits of the GIXXER Bro .     The overly ambitious, inexperienced , and risk taking fellow that goes from passing his MSF course one week to jumping on a liter bike that has more power than their Toyota Corolla SR5 has.

SIGNS OF ADHD

The symptoms of ADHD are commonplace with this group:

  1. Hyperactive
  2. Risk Taking
  3. Inattentive
  4. Impulsive

There is a reason that the motorcycle death rate is high.   Riding a motorcycle (fast or slow) safely requires attention and a general degree of self control.     Just because you can go to 10k RPM between every stop light hitting 100 mph, doesn’t mean you should be doing it (ie., impulse control).  Also known as “riding beyond your limits”.

If you find yourself , new to riding, drawn to a super sport motorcycle with gobs of power, you may want to check you ADHD risk factors first.  It might just keep you riding years longer (and alive).

Take a few minutes , in honor of ADHD Awareness Month and test yourself here.

Attention is a skill, much like riding.   If you give yourself time to develop both your riding skills , patience, and attention, you will see all improving in no time.

If you find that your focus and attention are limiting your safety, take it serious.  Treatment may include medication, counseling, organizational strategies, and even exercise.

Stay safe, stay focused, but just keep riding.

Lets do circle back on the KATANA though..  my attention is slipping.   CANT WAIT TO SEE THIS BIKE!

Ok, I’m back.

Ride on my friends.
