Getting sideways with sidecars this tournament season.

Taking a break from the first round of the BIG tournament, you might find yourself a little sideways.     A few drinks (a few BIG drinks) I mean.  By sideways we are talking about that bar brawl over the better mascot.   Jayhawk, Wildcat, Frog.   Of course that’s worth throwing down over.  Its MARCH for crying out loud.  BRACKET TIME IS FIGHTING TIME.

Those groovy single wheel add-on’s that seem to be popping up like a bald eagle sitting on a highway post.   You cant help but turn and look.    Very cool and very nostalgic.

Its not just an old school thing however,  the Pittsburgh police department specifically uses them during the winter months (yeah.. they are still out riding in the winter).  Check out this video

Sidecars have been around for over 100 years.  One of the earliest companies making them was Watsonian. They have been used as in early military battles, industrial worksites, and more recently to caddy around that family poodle.

Sidecar Appeal

Sidecars represent something different in the two-wheeled motolife, (or 3 wheel) that gives people another option.  It  also opens up the motorcycle lifestyle to people that might not otherwise be able to get out on the open road.   Sidecar motorcycles have been modified for individuals with disabilities to keep them riding.   Check out this video from Dennis Kirk

The love of motorcycles includes all things 2 wheel (or 3).   Keeping someone out on the road that might not be able to still independently do so is life changing.

As more and more people are collecting motorcycles and reliving the old days, the uniqueness of a sidecar motorcycle is becoming more and more relevant.

Sidecars are cool. Sidecars are functional.  Sidecars are collectible..

Back to your bracket and fresh beer.  Just dont get sideways.

Ride on!
