Harley’s 2018 Sprout; Think of them as Baby Groot

The year is half way over and riding season is in full swing.   We have what seems to be a small resurgence in motorcycle shows (OCC,  Mayans MC-9/4/18) and 90% of the news coverage we see is how someone was unlucky or injured (or worse) on their ride over the weekend.   Negative news prevails. Including news for those Harley loving midlife riders.

Not this time.   Harley Davidson has been on the receiving end of many negative stories over the last few months .   Behind the scenes, Harley’s operations are churning and planting seeds. Looking for a sprout.

In the US, they have an internship program where marketable and socially active riders are promoting their bikes (supplied by Harley Davidson) on a daily basis and tapping into what younger generations know: INSTAGRAM and TWITTER.   Scenic posts and cool stories of travel, friends, and freedom.

In the Money & a Sprout

its also the time of year when companies report on the green (or in some cases red) that has been taking place.   Like it or not, we are in a global economy and stock performance matters.   A company , especially one like Harley, depends on more and more sales to succeed.   To do that, more people need to ride and buy Harley Davidson bikes.

While no one would be shocked to know that revenue was off 2017 figures, there was a very interesting up side to their announcement.
International sales are UP.  In the USA,  sales were down, not surprising.   Overall across the globe, they are off.  However when looking at Harley International, there is an up tick of .7%.   A SPROUT!

Harley knows where they need to grow.  They have a young and persistent focus going on in the USA currently.   A global push and a little sprout may be exactly what Harley needs to flex its muscle.

On July 30, Harley will release its accelerated strategy for ass kickery.   Stay tuned.

Keep riding, whatever it is .
