Coffee and Motorcycles as a snapshot of reality.

On a hot August morning (and generally any Sunday morning..) in the West Bottoms in KC, you’ll find what is an ever growing event.   Sunday Church.   At Blip Roasters there is a community.  You will see motorcyclists and lovers of all things 2 wheeled and some with 4  lining up for a home town roasted cup of coffee and the experience of CHURCH.

The CHURCH

If you were to say you were going to meet up with 100 other motorcyclists in the West Bottoms, people might assume you were an outcast or some rough biker that has a club.   The truth is, what has happened at BLIP in Kansas City is a Snapshot of life in the metro.
You can find people from all walks of life and from all zip codes  at CHURCH.  From custom bike building artists, to accomplished attorneys and business professionals, young and old.  People are riding in from 10, 20, 30 miles and more just to be part of this event.

Creating Connections

The common draw is that there are 2 things that transcend every socioeconomic category.   Coffee and cool.   The coffee in this case is roasted in house and some of the best coffee you’ll find in the city.   The cool is anything motorcycle.   Old bikes, new bikes, and even heavily customized bikes can be seen lined up.    Even for those that don’t ride, seeing a motorcycle pass you by will spark a turn and smile.  Today i noticed one car full of spectators  driving up and down with phone/camera in hand filming the event.    Putting things together, you have community.   Free from division and hate.

For as little as 30 minutes to as much as 3 hours, people stay, parked on the street out front, hanging on to whatever bit of shade they can find, just talking about their weeks, their family , and most definitely their bikes. .   Appreciating and sharing stories, ideas, and good faith.   There are good people out there, regardless of what they may look like and irregardless of what they do for a living , where they live, or how much they make.    Motorcycles expose you.  They leave you open to the elements and place you at risk.    They also connect you to others at a very compassionate and sincere level .

Kudos to BLIP for this ongoing and ever growing movement they have caused in the metro.
