How to battle the biggest enemy on the road.

COMBAT APPROVED

Unlike the lane goblins and suburban soccer moms in another post, this post is about the 3 enemies that you’ll face and could possibly cost your you life.    You will be attacked like Donald Trump , the enemy of Harley Davidson.   These three enemies will possibly cause you the most trouble in 2018.

  1. EGO.   Not the driver next to you my friend, but you.   That overly confident, shit talking, and unaware motorcyclist that you are.   You think the world revolves around you and if anyone even comes close to you, they must be singling you out.   HOW DARE THEY!!  Your ego will cause you to react with a short fuse and possibly like the 16 year old version of yourself that you thought you left behind 30 years ago.    Leave the ego behind.  You’ll have a much better ride.

  2. DISTRACTION.   Maybe the biggest enemy you have.    The more you ride, the more relaxed you get.  The more relaxed you get, the less attentive you become.    When your attention starts to drift to MIDLIFE topics such as college for your kids, getting your kids to actually move out, or the realization that you are now an old, man ,skinny fat with no ass.   All it takes is one or two seconds to change your life (or the life of someone you crash in to).   Riding a motorcycle requires attention,  and self awareness.  If you mindlessly roll along, you are allowing yourself to only give a little attention.      FOCUS !  Ride safe.

  3. FEAR.   Much like the warriors in 300, you must have no fear.   Not that you need to behave with a total disregard to safety and risk, but letting fear and anxiety build while you are riding will narrow your response to danger.  Anything you encounter will be responded to with an excessive  level of tension.   Your grip will cause pain and your rigidity will cause you to move through the lanes like a semi making a tight right turn.   Running over everything in sight.

Being self aware is one of the most valuable weapons you can have while out riding.    Leave these 3 enemies behind and win the battle.

Be safe, ride smart, and have fun.
