The 2018 World Cup of Motorcycles; Round 1

Motors, motorcycles, and balls.    All across the world, kids show an appreciation of these things.    With the 2018 World Cup this year , what better time to spotlight some of the motorcycle trends in each  country.    Motorcycle popularity , trends, and needs vary by geography.    We know that the United States has seen struggling and changing motorcycle trends, but what about the rest of the world?

Round 1

Argentina .   This South American country is no slouch in the motorcycle market.   They were recently identified as #2 in South America, behind Brazil.   Royal Enfield, the FASTEST growing motorcycle brand in the world has committed to more growth here.   To team up a winning company like Royal with a high sales market, make Argentina a top contender in this “motorcycle” world cup.   Also common in this South American giants bag of tricks is the small cc Honda line up.

Australia.   The land down under.   Australians love their bikes too.  Who’s the star in their line up?   According to 2017 data, Honda stands supreme.   Yamaha and Kawasaki come in as second and third string players here.    Dont feel bad for HD.  Harley , while coming in fifth overall, was #1 for ROAD bikes.   So good old American muscle keeps the peace on Australian roads.

Belgium.  This western European country,   loaded with medieval and renaissance architecture, stays true to its European strengths.   If you’ve got a five star recruit in your back yard, why wouldn’t you recruit them to lead your team.   That’s exactly what Belgium did for this Moto World Cup line up.   BMW , according to 2017 data, leads the way.   It’s no wonder, these bikes are brutally strong and can run for miles and miles.    The perfect player for a cup team.   Coming in second falls Yamaha.    If you’re going to travel across Europe , of course you’re going to want an FJ!

In this first round, we globe trotted to 3 World Cup team locations and one thing is clear.   There is no one machine that represents a biker or mid life moto fanatic.    Teams are dynamic and multicultural.

Round 2 coming soon..

Keep riding.
