Ducati’s Sound Of Silence

We’ll soon be enjoying the sound of silence…

The future is electric. Other posts have already focused on brands like Harley among others that are committed to an electric line:

Ducati’s ceo recently announced they too would be echoing the sounds of silence in the near future

There is no denying that electric power can be mind blowing fast and immediate. However, the appeal in Ducati, beyond their Italian heritage and race successes, is the sound. That deep, angry , and fast moving sound that even Disturbed would be proud to include in its audio files.

Going electric means one thing. We’ll soon be hearing less of this beautiful rumble and more of that sound of silence associated with electric drives.

If motorcycles are going to stay relevant in the crowded cities and environmentally friendly cities we have , they must be appealing. Nimble, quick, cool, and free from harmful emissions, YES. BUT, free from the noise and rumble we have all known . Will motorcycles loose their cool factor with the sound of silence or will they blow up the charts like Disturb’s remake of a song by that same name?

People riding without listening

People revving without feeling.

That may be a bit too dramatic. Electric motorcycles will be an important segment in the coming decade. Eventually, we’ll see more options, lower cost and increased range . For those of us lucky to remember the beautiful sounds that came from a high revving twin or V4, we’ll be able to look back at a time when there was a sound that made us look, grin, and smile.

And so its true, the words are written on the subway walls all across this land, Ducati’s tune will be changing. Again, maybe a bit dramatic. We’ll have to see the the motorcycling world looks and sounds like when you remove the beloved roar of a an exhaust. Times they are a changing.

Keep riding & revving.
