The real workhorses of the Tour De France

Its another Summer. Another year and another chance to get out on the road. Two wheeled warriors will be spending hours on the road going hundreds of miles . The difference is that these two wheeled warriors are not motor powered. They are man powered. Bring on the Tour De France.

In the kick off to last years Tour De France, we talked about the dynamic support that comes from two wheeled vehicles. MOTORCYCLES are all over the place at the Tour De France.

The Sports Touring Machines in the Tour De France

As this years 21 stage epic road adventure kicks off, we will be following all the fast paced strategy, handling, and grit. Again, bringing us all the wonderful views from the road are all those support vehicles. Sport Tour and Adventure bikes have dominated the roads over the last few years. Big beefy FJs and GTR1400s along with the occasional GS will be on every road. This year however there is something new that you will see. A 3-Wheeled support vehicle. Before you go assuming that its a Harley trike, think again. To blend in and keep up with all of the action on the road, its still important to maintain both functionality and sport. These are long days and crowded roads full of curves, roundabouts, and crowds. The bike you will see is the : YAMAHA NIKEN.

This new odd looking three wheeler is blending in and making a name for its self. Three wheeled bikes are common and even growing in the motorcycle world. To be holding its own among a mass of hundreds of bikers, thousands of spectators, and loads of other support sedans, it nothing short of an endorsement to the NIKEN’s versatility.

The tour is just kicking off and i will be looking closely at the support provided by this wacky looking sports touring machine. Summer is here!

Pedal hard, ride safe, and love life.
