What 3 bad habits do you need break in midlife?

Maybe the biggest habit to break….

Age is creeping up on you.   Slowly but surely.    So is midlife.    If  you are not careful, you will find yourself overweight,  out of shape, and missing out.    If you value your health, your mood, and your pocket book, pay attention to these bad habits.

With a little research, three of the biggest bad habits that will decrease your health and quality of life as you age  are drinking, sun exposure, and being addicted to stress.

Drinking Habit

Its 5 o’clock somewhere right?    Those four words that many of us echo throughout the week and eventually turn us into trained lab rats.   We run from work and seek out the nearest distraction.   The Happy Hour at the local sports bar.   Saving a few bucks per drink and giving us a reason to wash our stress away.   The problem with this habit is that regular drinking causes more drinking.  This causes more drinking .   Those sports bars also have pretty tasty food.  Tasty, not healthy.    The Happy Hour highway is not one that leads to happy town.    Obesity, high blood pressure,  and liver damage are on the menu.   While the occasional drink may have some health benefits.  The BAR lifestyle is not one to keep you active and vital in your later years.    Beer CAN be a bad outlet..

SUN TANS

We WORSHIP the sun.  That golden color and that warm feeling that is created from some time in the sun.    If you grew up in the 70s and 80s,  Sunscreen was not an automatic .   We took pride in our burns and our freckles.      As you age,  that sun damage keeps mounting.    Adding to your spots, lines, and freckles.    Sun is needed,   sun damage is not.  Aging is accelerated by sun exposure..    Keep your love of the sun, but learn how to associate it with being protected.    Sunscreen ,  protective clothing, and limiting exposure.

A little sun goes a long way.

Anger Management

Temper temper . Life has many ups and downs. We all can choose to respond to things with anger or with patience and mindfulness. Those moments of anger can cause you to make bad choices. To put yourself and even those around you at risk if injury. You also run the risk of keeping that blood pressure at OFF THE CHARTS levels. Learn how to get yourself past moments of rage. Control your trigger. There are many resources out there to learn mindfulness and stress control. Check out 10% Happier..

Those are just 3 bad habits that will hurt you as age. I’m sure there are more.
