Another motorcycle accident hits sin city. Its not always a party in Vegas.

The Risk

The motorcycle life is one full of excitement, adventure, and most definitely risk. Risk of accident.   We have talked about the dangers of intersections in prior posts and they are highlighted by every sad story in the local news as well as during your motorcycle safety course.   Rider going too fast into a corner (fill in the blank).  The other scenario goes like this:   Rider collides with car turning left in front of the rider.   Obstructed view , impatience,  and speed all play a role in these unfortunate events.    One additional factor that, when combined with the above listed scenarios, will exponentially increase the chances of a bad accident. Playing the odds.

Viva Las Vegas

Last night  in the hustling city of Las Vegas, that exact thing happened.    A group of riders out doing what riders do, pressed their luck just a bit.    One pending intersection was not cooperative and decided to transition from GREEN to RED .  Playing the odds..

We all do it, eventually.   Running a red light is something that can happen when in a hurry or when seeking to push the limits of your rush.   The bad this is, eventually, there will be a collision.   In this instance, the unlucky rider of a Yamaha R6  was met by a party bus turning left.   Not the kind of party the group on the bus paid for to be sure.    The rider was left in life threatening- condition.

Ride Smart

Fun doesn’t have to be the result of stupidity .  When we put ourselves into those scenarios, something will eventually happen .   The people on the bus will now be emotionally scarred for having been involved in a serious accident.   The group of riders will have emotional baggage for the well being of their friend and even bigger if the injured rider doesn’t pull through.

My heart goes out to all involved in the accident.   Hoping the rider pulls through and is able to enjoy the motorcycle life after recovering.
