Rounding out Stress Awareness Month.
This month has been all about stress awareness and being self aware. Failing to do so produced those epic tantrum moments where your only options were to punch a wall, drink excessively, or binge watch SOA.
At this point in the year, the frustratingly blah days of winter are long behind me. Gone are the days of looking at the motorcycle parked in the garage and wondering why i even have her there. Whats the point? Isn’t just a midlife crisis issue? Cold weather and clouds have produced a reoccurring tantrum that swept over me every mid week.
Mid Week Blues
Every Wednesday, it hits me. I’m stuck, working through situations and dealing with employees , customers, managers, and family. There is an outlet that can immediately put life into a reflection mode. With the weather being tolerable, all it takes is a quick “screw it” and twist of the throttle. 20-30 minutes on the bike and i’m taken to another place. I can see that life goes on and that people are all going through their ups and downs as I am. Seeing smiling faces, angry faces, zoned out faces, and innocent faces everywhere.
While riding a motorcycle is a great way to FIND YOURSELF, its also a great way to get out and see the world (or at least your neighborhood, city, state). You become more observant on two wheels. Noticing the scenery, the sun, and the wild life. You also notice the human life. If you look close enough, you’ll see that you’re troubles are pretty minor compared to those of others. You can see it in their faces, their distractions, and non verbal communications. Their MISERABLE. You are at least out riding!
What a good opportunity for a moment of gratefulness. Being both self aware and grateful can get you through many of life’s troubles.
