Endgame was a fitting end to the most epic series of movies my generation has ever seen (too much?). We watched them as energetic 30 year olds and then finished watching them as midlife bound warriors. Searching for meaning and escape.

As Endgame kicks off, there is a moment immediately after the …”SNAP” that all the team is searching for loved ones, for connections, and direction. They finally move on. Fast forward many years and we catch up with Thor (among other Avengers). To our disbelief, he has shut out the world . After experiencing loss, setback, and blows to his self worth, he created a deep connection (DEPENDENCY) on beer and a sedentary life. And like the rest of us (god or no god) , the impact of a steady diet of junk and beer will wreck your health.

While humorous, (it is just a movie), its a common scenario.

Set backs for Thor and all of us:

  1. at work
  2. with family
  3. loss of loved ones
  4. lack of meaning in life
  5. loss of hope

These are real issues that hit us all. As we age however, the Thor example is one that will result in major and continued issues. In a prior post, I discussed the impact of diet and alcohol on stroke risk. If the GOD OF THUNDER was a normal human , someone would have said his risk of either heart attack or stroke was HIGH.

Again, its just a movie, but the emotions and cause-effect we see is commonplace across the country. Life can throw you many challenges and at times you may feel like you’re better off just being like Thor . A soft chair, a cozy robe, and a keg of beer.

Life is short. Dont Be Like Thor!

Get out that bike, twist the throttle, and let the sun and wind clear your mind.
